Find out what it takes to be a European Green Capital

The European Green Capital Secretariat recently published the Good Practice Report for the 2014 Competition Cycle. The report highlights good environmental practices currently undertaken among the 18 applicant cities for this year’s competition cycle. Two noteworthy “good practices” are detailed for each of the 12 European Green Capital Indicators.

Cities contribute 70 percent of global greenhouse-gas emissions

According to a new UN report, cities around the world are not doing enough in the fight against climate change. The report, “Hot Cities: battle-ground for climate change” from the United Nations Human Settlement Program, shows that while the world’s cities only cover 2 percent of global land area, they account for a staggering 70 percent of greenhouse-gas emissions.
